Stretch and Sew Fabrics

Lisa Mandell worked for Uncle Sam for years before she bought Stretch and Sew Fabrics in Bloomington, Minnesota. For longer than she could remember, she did mending and sewing part time from her home. “Sewing is something that I’ve always had an interest in.   I actually worked at Stretch and Sew, teaching sewing classes from time to time.  When I learned that the owner was going to retire, I jumped at the chance to buy the business!”

Once Lisa negotiated an acceptable price with the owner, she was ready to look for financing to complete the purchase.  To assist her with her search, Lisa worked with a loan broker, Debbie Gustafsen, who knew of CIT Bank - Small Business Lending and their commitment to helping small business owners.  Debbie contacted Joe Kammermeier, Regional Account Manager, operating from Minneapolis, Minnesota, who recognized the potential of the business and its hopeful new owner.   “When Lisa was ready make the purchase, I knew right away that the deal would work.  I helped her with the loan application which was approved within a matter of days and closed in less than a month.”

Stretch and Sew Fabrics is a 30 year old thriving business boasting the finest fabrics and top of the line sewing equipment.  Lisa employs 9 people handling a strong and dedicated clientele.  She offers sewing classes for those who sew as a hobby and for those who take it more seriously.  “Our customers want the best fabrics and sewing machines available and our sewing classes cover all ranges of sewing experience” states Lisa.

Lisa has been operating the business now since August of 2001 and is devoted to its continued success!
